Following the all-clear, RCCL has announced that Pullmantur’s Blue Dream will join the Celebrity fleet and will be renamed Celebrity Journey. It will operate under the Celebrity Expeditions banner. The dedicated small-ship destination offering is part of RCCL’s strategy to ‘round out’ the Celebrity brand.
It starts operating under its new name from May07.
Currently Celebrity Xpedition is the only vessel serving the expedition markets. It is a 100-guest vessel, based out of the Galapagos. Celebrity Journey will have a capacity of 718 and is based in Bermuda.
It is taking over the itineraries currently operated by Celebrity Zenith, which in turn is joining the Pullmantur fleet in June07. Refitting for Zenith will see the ship customised for the Spanish market, including adding balcony cabins and enlarging public spaces.
RCCL has also announced its Q3 06 results. In the quarter it made a net income of $345.4m on revenues of $1.6bn.
It has also announced that CFO Luis Leon is retiring. He will be replaced by Brian Rice, currently executive VP, revenue performance.
